Two people relax on white loungers outdoors, surrounded by greenery. They're wearing sunglasses, with "Sky Television Centre" text visible.
Permanent seating and lush turf created a new rhythm for outdoor breaks.

Reshaped how people gather, move, and connect.

The Challenge

To revitalise the iconic Television Centre by enhancing its shared spaces, making them more functional, more vibrant, and more reflective of the diverse community of residents, professionals, and visitors who animate it each day

Insight and Ambition

Television Centre is a cultural landmark with a rich past and a vibrant present. Yet its shared spaces risk feeling practical rather than personal. We saw an opportunity to shape a new rhythm, one that invites people to pause, connect, and feel at ease. Through subtle shifts in sound, colour, planting, and layout, our ambition was to create spaces that quietly transform the everyday.

Highlights

  • Natural soundscapes now soothe the place with a calming blend of birdsong, soft water, and wind that brings new atmosphere to the space.

  • We introduced eco-friendly, ergonomic furniture in vibrant colours to encourage comfort, dwell time, and casual connection.

  • Refreshed turf and bold zoning enhance flexibility.

  • Hundreds paused by the big screen daily to eat, play table tennis and relax.

A series of small interventions added up to something bigger, a site that felt more connected, more considered, and more alive.
