Savills | Club HQ at Harlequin Watford

A sports and social club for the whole town
The Challenge
In collaboration with Savills, Kit & Caboodle were invited to turn Charter Place at Harlequin Watford into a school holiday destination, giving families, young people and shoppers an extra reason to visit, play and linger.
Pink stripes, emerald turf and a court ready for whatever the day had in store. The striped kiosk was Club HQ’s front door, where every visit began with a racket and a smile. Local instructors brought fresh energy to the court, in full view of passing shoppers. Pink on green: the signature palette that made Club HQ impossible to miss. From the balconies above, shoppers paused to watch the court come alive. Caps, totes and branded balls carried the pink and green look well beyond the court.
Insight and Ambition
Sport is shifting away from rigid and elite towards something open, social and playful. Club HQ captured that mood as a pop-up sports and social club, pairing athletic club energy with a laid-back summer spirit. A compact padel court anchored the space and changed through the week, from fitness and dance to family play and community takeovers, with sessions priced at just £3 so anyone could play.
Rackets in hand and laughter flowing before the first serve. Arms high and spirits higher, right in the middle of the shopping centre. Dance classes brought the beat to centre court, pulling curious eyes to the glass. Even the lockers played their part, with every door an invitation to book. Pink script on matte black: kit worthy of the club’s name. Warrior poses beneath the escalators proved wellness can happen anywhere. A candy-striped kiosk and a Spin to Win wheel set a playful tone from first glance. Rackets raised in celebration, no match point required.
Highlights
Padel stole the show, driving almost half of all 832 tickets, with 96% of court slots booked and walk-ins regularly filling any gaps.
Fifteen programme strands, from Latin Beats and Pilates to Teddy Padel and Parent & Toddler Dance, gave every generation a reason to join in.
Club HQ's photobooth became a social magnet, logging 7,164 interactions, 5,844 printed keepsakes and 2,459 digital shares.
Encourt's Intro to Padel sessions filled 176 places, local instructors found new audiences, and ticket proceeds supported Watford FC's Community Sports & Education Trust.
Club HQ turned a shopping centre atrium into Watford's summer club, generating an estimated 1,500+ participant engagements in a single month.
Racket, ball and mat at the ready, with the Spin to Win wheel just beyond the glass. Every detail wore the Club HQ colours, right down to the ball. Spin to Win drew families straight off the shopping trail and into the game. Tactics talk on the sidelines, with the court glowing pink and green behind. A white wooden cart dotted with tennis balls invited passers-by to book a game or join a class. A crisp white cap for anyone ready to join the club. Behind the counter, fresh balls and friendly faces kept every session serving. Courtside benches kept the buzz going between games. Smoothies, rackets and good company: the social side of sport in full swing.
